Simple Healthful Herbs And Healing Foods For Your Children

One of our past guests had just become a new grandmother and she asked my opinion on raw living foods for children and if children could eat herbs when they were sick. That is why I am writing this article  — because she asked me to help her and because I thought some of our other past guests and readers could benefit from how I answered her questions.

Keeping our children healthy is our primary purpose as parents and grandparents.  The living foods lifestyle is the strongest health foundation you can give your child, yet there are times when parents must consider additional modalities when helping their children through an illness.  It’s my hope that you will never have to use any of the following herbs or concoctions, but if you do, keep in mind that herbs can interact with other herbs, supplements and/or medications. For these reasons, you should only give herbs to a child when under the supervision of a health care practitioner. So if you do want to use these time-tested protocols, please consult your healthcare provider for diagnosis and medical advice before giving them to your children.

The following list of symptoms and the herbs and concoctions used to address them is by no means meant to be a comprehensive listing and only reflects some of the protocols I am personally aware of.  If you have found other simple protocols please feel free to add them to the comments.  I would love to hear from you.

Blessings,

Bobby

Herbs and Protocols

Colic:  When your child cries for extended periods (1-2 hours), pulls its legs up to the belly, or extends its legs out and will not calm down they may be experiencing colic.  Mild, yet effective herbal teas made from Anise, Catnip, Caraway or Fennel, and Peppermint have been used by mothers to sooth their children’s colic.

Colds: When your child is suffering from a cold you also suffer.  All of these herb and concoctions will really help your child when they are fighting a cold. Your first line of defense should be used early and often. Echinacea is a great all round herb which provides immune support and may help protect your child from viral and bacterial infections.   I also like Anise  as it will help with breaking up the mucus and make it easier for your child to breath and  get the mucous out of his/her body.  You may also want to make a Chamomile tea, infused with peppermint, licorice and lemon balm. This concoction will help calm your child’s cough and works as an expectorant. If your child is older you may want to talk to your health care provider about Mullen tea.

Constipation:  Good hydration is the most effective way to relive constipation and this is easy to achieve, when your child is getting plenty of pure water along with raw fruits and vegetables which contain large amounts of water. Also a blend of Chamomile and Marigold teas will help prevent constipation, while gently helping your little one’s bowels to move.  Two other good herbs are aloe and sienna both possesses laxative action and act on your child’s large intestine to stimulate peristalsis.

Cough:When your child coughs it is a sign that his/her body is attempting to an inflamed (croup- dry cough) or mucus congested airway (wet cough).  All of the herbal remedies I’m sharing with you will decrease inflammation, reduce mucus production and have a soothing relaxing affect that quickly helps stop the coughing.   Warm herbal tea with licorice, honey (only give honey to children who are at least 1 years old) and a little lemon juice is excellent for helping ease the tickle that sets off a cough.  Children of all ages who have coughs benefit from running a humidifier with eucalyptus oil in the water as it will break up mucus and soothe your child’s coughing reflex.  Make sure the humidifier is out of your child’s reach, or use a cold humidifier.  Also, if your child is over 1 years old give them a spoonful of honey with a little lemon mixed in before they go to bed as this will help alleviate soreness.  There are many wonderful natural herbal cough syrups that you can make or purchase.  Contact your health care for recipes and suggestions.  Don’t forget to keep checking your child’s temperature and to keep him/her hydrated.

Cradle Cap: Consists of dead skin cells which remain attached to your babies head. These dead skin cells block your baby’s pores and mix with body oils.  Cradle Cap usually appears within the first days of your child’s life.  Your child will not usually experience itching or pain with Cradle Cap.  Before bedtime you can rinse your baby’s head with a simple warm mixture of  Alendula and Comfrey, then let the baby’s scalp air dry, then massage organic olive oil mixed with lavender and mullein into the scalp and leave it in overnight, wash it away with mild natural soap and water each morning. The Cradle Cap should disappear within a few days.  Seborrhea- is a form of Cradle Cap that has formed on other areas of the body.

Diaper Rash:  Is usually caused by a diaper containing urine/stool and the material of the diaper rubbing against the child’s skin.  The way to identify this type of rash is to look at the folds of the skin (which are more protected) if they are not red, you have diaper rash caused by simple irritation.   Most other diaper rashes are cause by yeast or bacterial infections. The yeast rash will show up bright red, often with small red pimples on the outer edges.  The bacterial rash will have fluid-filled pimples which look yellowish with some crusty areas.

Diarrhea: As your child begins to eat different combinations of foods the bowels sometime will react and your child may get diarrhea. To alleviate the discomfort associated with diarrhea, you may want to have your child eat fresh grated raw or lightly steamed carrots, mixed with equal parts applesauce (include the apples skin).  I also like raspberry and peppermint tea blended, as this concoction helps to stop cramping, calms diarrhea and will also help lower a fever.

Earache: If your child experiences regular earaches or earaches which last more than 12 hours be sure to contact your physician.  Usually earaches accompany colds and coughs. If you are a smoker stop!  Smoke from cigarettes plays a major role in many children’s earaches.  Before giving your child herbs or medications, try sitting him/her up and placing a cool washcloth on the ear that is troubling them.  If your child is old enough to chew gum  give him/her a piece of herbal chewing gum, as this can sometimes lower the pain. As long as your child’s eardrum is not punctured you may want to warm some olive oil and add a few drops of grapefruit seed extract along with a drop of garlic and tea tree oil. Place a piece of warm cotton in the ear and lay a warm, slightly damp cloth over the ear and begin a vaporizer that has eucalyptus oil in it. You may repeat putting on warm cloths until your child ear stops hurting.  Should your child’s earache not subside, you should contact your physician.

Teething:Children seeking comfort from the pain of teething can use lemon balm as a tea or can chew on a washcloth soaked in the tea.

Lose Up To A Pound A Day – The CHI Way By Just Eating An Alkaline Balanced Diet?

Believe it or not there is a good side to having a high percentage of body fat, as it plays a major role in extending lives because it provides the first line of defense from the acid wastes that go hand-in-hand with the Standard American Diet (SAD).

When we eat the SAD, we consume vast amounts of acid-based foods.  These acidic foods cause acidic waste, so our body’s first line of defense is to use the body’s optimal amount of fat cells to store the toxins. This defensive measure is helpful, although for most of us it’s no match for the amount of acidic foods we are accustomed to eating – so the body must make more fat cells so that the acidic waste will not be dumped in to our blood stream.

Our health problems are compounded when our fat cells multiply beyond our body’s ability to handle them at natural healthy levels.  When  this happens we find ourselves not only dealing with unhealthy levels of fat cells, we find our bodies soon show signs of disease in the heart, lungs, liver, colon, kidneys, pancreas, gall bladder and other vital organs.

When I speak about high acidic foods which are part of the SAD, I’m primarily referring to all processed food along with dairy, meat, bread and any foods which are high in sugar. All of these foods are highly acidic and cause acid wastes to build up through out the body, including the fat cells.

This brings me to why you can healthfully loose up to a pound a day stopping the toxic poisoning of your fat cells and balancing your pH!

Here at Creative Health Institute, our students and guests are always amazed at the amount of fat that just seems to melt off their bodies on a daily basis. This quick weight loss is not water weight, as every participant is eating two and a half to three pounds of high alkaline raw living food per day, along with drinking a minimum of half their body weight in ounces of water.  The key to their success is the power of the alkaline foods and their ability to help the fat cells safely release their toxic acidic waste into the bloodstream, without adversely affecting the blood or bodies vital organs and systems.

There are a million-and-one weight loss programs and diets. It’s proven that 99% of the craze diets fail, not because the dieter is lazy or has no self-control, but because the weight loss program or diet is not based in eliminating acidic toxic waste and poisons from the first line of the body’s defenses, i.e., fat cells.

So, are you ready to experience the joy that is a natural expression of being able to free your fat cells of toxic acidic waste and poisons?  If so, then simply begin eating two and a half to three pounds of raw highly alkaline food per day, drink a minimum of half your body weight in ounces of water and combine this simple eating regiment with just a ½ hour exercise daily. So, now that you know how it’s done, what’s keeping you from having the healthy toxin free body that you deserve?

A Half Dozen Natural Antibiotics Some Of Us At Creative Health Institute Have Found To Be Helpful

It has been my experience that prescription antibiotics kill good bacteria; contribute to yeast over growth and weaken my immune system.  Many of us at Creative Health Institute find that natural antibiotics are a better choice, as they do not kill good bacteria, nor do they have the inherent side effects associated with prescription antibiotics. I have found natural antibiotics when combined with a raw living food diet provide my best protection from infections and when necessary  the addition of more natural antibiotics can alleviate swelling and pain and eliminate the bad bacteria which usually accompany any infection.

There are hundreds of powerful  natural antibiotics and I would love to provide them all in this article, but due to my time constraints I am going to give you a half dozen of my favorites in this article. I promise to write more about natural antibiotics over the next few months.

Please feel free to send me information and your personal testimonials on your favorites and I will post them on the Creative Health Institute blog. You can also add your favorite natural antibiotic and testimonials in the comments section.  Please consult your health care provider before trying any natural antibiotic.

Wishing you the greatest health and long life.

Natural Antibiotics

Grape Seed Extract:  A few drops of grapefruit seed extract, (GSE), in a glass of water is all that is needed to help stop a sore throat or put almost any infection on notice. I have personally used just a few drops directly on a case of athletes foot and experienced immediate relief and saw the fungus completely disappear after only two applications. I have many friends who swear by it when it comes to helping them control their Candida.

Dr. Louis Parish MD, an investigator for the US Department of Health and the FDA, believes that GSE, “Gives more symptomatic relief than any other treatment. Conventional antibiotics only kill bacteria. The grapefruit seed extract has been shown to inactivate viruses, yeasts, fungi, parasites and worms as well as bacteria.”

“Studies from a list of prestigious institutes have demonstrated grapefruit seed extract to be effective against over twenty disease-causing bacteria, more than thirty fungi, and a host of single cell parasites”.
Allan Sachs DC

Garlic:  Raw garlic held under the tongue, placed on the infected area or taken as a juice is an effective antibiotic. I know of a friend who swears that garlic is the best natural antibiotic for a tooth ache or infected gums. Her remedy is as follows:

  • Peel a raw piece of garlic
  • Place the garlic on the infected tooth or gum area and bite down on it for 15 minutes, then spit it out.
  • Peel a second piece of garlic and chew it but do not swallow and letting the pieces and juices stay on the infected area for about 15 minutes.
  • Do this 3 times a day every day  until the infection is gone. Usually within 72 hours.

Oil of Oregano:  The antiviral, anti-fungal and antibacterial trifecta effect of this powerful natural antibiotic makes it one of my favorite all around natural antibiotics. Simply rub it on the infected area and you should see and feel amazing results within 72 hours.

Echinacea – Golden Seal: This combination of natural antibiotics is one of nature’s most powerful immune system boosters and I have found it to be one an excellent way to ward off colds and flu.

Colloidal Silver: This is a very powerful broad-spectrum natural antibiotic. Unfortunately there are many unscrupulous vendors who do not care about the quality of the product they sell to you.  Please do your research before purchasing or using any type of Colloidal Silver.

Colloidal silver fights infection, subdues inflammation, and promotes healing. It is a clear golden liquid composed of 99.9 percent pure silver particles approximately 0.001 to 0.01 micron (1/1 to 1/100,000 millimeter) in diameter that are suspended in pure water. It can be taken by mouth, administered intravenously, or applied topically. Colloidal silver is available in health food stores. “True colloids will typically contain more than 50% particles (often 50 – 80%), while the balance (20% to 49%) will be silver ions. When referring to colloidal silver, the word colloid means silver particles “.   This is an excellent website, which contains good research and information’ http://www.silver-colloids.com

“Prior to 1938, before antibiotics, colloidal silver was used by doctors as their main substance to fight bacteria in a more natural way than through the antibiotics they use today. Antibiotics can harm our kidneys and liver functions. Colloidal silver promotes healing”.

Holt Wood Herbs
The Holt Wood Herbs project is in North Devon and is based around the aim of developing sustainable home production of medicinal tree and shrub products. The project involves a 2 1/2 acre site designed by a medical herbalist. The site is an ex-conifer plantation and has been planted since 2005 with a range of native and introduced medicinal trees and shrubs. At present the owners are working to keep weeds down and establish trees and gain experience in coppicing of medicinal trees. Reckless Orchard
We are a small landscape architecture practice with a special interest in promoting and encouraging traditional orchards. We work with schools, community groups and voluntary sector organisations as well as commercial clients to increase awareness of the wildlife and biodivesity advantages of retaining and preserving old fruit varieties. We built an award winning straw bale walled orchard garden at Westonbirt Arboretum with the help of Common Ground and the Brogdale Trust (home of the national fruit collection) to highlight this issue. We work all over the south west and are based just north of Bristol and also in the Wye Valley where the Reckless Orchard once existed.

The Lizard Leaf Company
We are a small scale independent organic mixed market garden based at Gear Farm, St Martin on the Lizard Peninsula in West Cornwall and we produce a wide range of herbs, salad leaves and vegetables for local health food stores, farm shops, gastropubs, hotels, restaurants, box schemes and holiday accommodation. All our produce is grown without the use of insecticides, fungicides and chemical fertilizer and our entire process of production is accredited by the Biodynamic Agricultural Association of Great Britain. The great flavour of our produce comes from growing varieties which taste the best rather than perform well in terms of uniformity, yield or shelf life and we grow them in a well maintained healthy soil enriched with lots of natural fertility, liquid seaweed extracts and mineral rich comfrey juice.

Creative Health Institute Teaches That Green Leaves Are The Most Powerful Life Force On Earth

The Importance of Green Leaves to the Planet.

The chlorophyll in green leaves forms the basis for all life on Earth. Without it life as we know it would not exist. There might be a few chemosynthetic bacteria left, since these can obtain energy from chemical reactions other than photosynthesis, but that would be it. Virtually all life depends on that beautiful green chlorophyll molecule.

The chlorophyll pigment is concentrated in the leaves of plants – though it is also present in other parts such as the stems of many herbaceous plants, flower buds and certain fruits and occasionally roots.

The chlorophyll molecule is responsible for trapping the sun’s energy; and this solar energy is converted to chemical energy in the form of glucose using carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere, and water (H2O) from the soil. This glucose is then transported all round the plant for use as required. Some is oxidised for energy, some is stored as insoluble starch when it is not required immediately. Some is converted into cellulose to make new plant structures e.g.. more leaves, stems, flowers, roots. Some is taken to fruits and accumulated there. Some is used to make proteins utilising nitrogen from the soil.

All plants live and grow by photosynthesis. The only exceptions to this are extreme parasites such as dodder (which have lost their chlorophyll) and saprophytes such as the ghost orchid, most fungi and bacteria. The saprophytes feed off dead and decaying vegetation, whilst the parasites feed off living plants and so both are dependant on green plants and chlorophyll, even though they do not possess it.

Green plants are the primary producers as a result of their wonderful greenness! Many animals – including humans – eat plants. Some animals eat other animals, but if you follow the food chain back you will find that green plants are always at the base. Animals and plants die and decay, releasing minerals into the soil and CO2 into the air for green plants to use for photosynthesis. Thus the cycle continues, and we all (except a few bacteria) need green plants. If green plants were to suddenly disappear, then so would virtually all life on Earth – including Homo Sapiens.

Green leaves are thus the powerhouses – the great driving force for Life on Earth. Photosynthesis is the life generating chemical process. Chlorophyll is thus the Molecule of Life.

The Importance of Green Leaves to Health.

It is no small wonder then that green leaves are so very extremely beneficial to the health. If someone mocks you as you eat your green salads and calls you a rabbit then you could always say that you would rather be as healthy as a rabbit than as sick as a human urban junkfood eater!

1. Vital Life Energy.

When you eat a leaf you are taking into your body – into your very being – that wonderful source of energy and vitality that powers Life on Earth. It is no coincidence that the haemoglobin molecule (which is responsible for carrying oxygen in our blood and distributing it to all our cells – as well as picking up CO2 and taking it back to the lungs for excretion) is very similar in structure to that of chlorophyll. The main difference is that haemoglobin contains iron whilst chlorophyll contains magnesium. Some people even believe that by eating chlorophyll you actually make haemoglobin directly!

Freshly picked raw leaves in particular are teeming with activity and vitality. This vitality, or life force, can be measured by Kirlian photography and it reduces when an individual plant or animal becomes sick or very old. When you eat fresh raw leaves you are taking that vitality into you. Leaves that have been picked and stored for a while, or leaves which have been cooked or dried will have much less vitality, but will still be very beneficial. Eat Green Leaves – take in LIFE!

The chlorophyll molecule itself is very soothing and healing and is useful in healing wounds. It is also a wonderful de-odouriser and can help to remove unpleasant smells from the gut!

2. Vitamins and Minerals.

When first changing from an animal based to a plant based diet, people often wonder where they will obtain their minerals, vitamins, protein and fats. I will answer all these questions in this series – but green leaves will provide most of the nutrients that we require.

Of all the many foods, green leaves are actually the richest in vitamins and minerals. The reason for this is that these nutrients are also required in photosynthesis – hence our heavy emphasis at Plants For A Future on plants with edible leaves.

Green leaves are the foods richest in easily utilised calcium. On a dry weight basis, chemical analysis shows that most plant leaves are actually as rich or richer in calcium than cow’s milk. This may come as a surprise to most people – but the figures are official! Cow’s (or goat’s) milk is in fact not a very good source of calcium at all because milk is very mucus -forming and tends to generate large amounts of sticky mucus in the gut. This mucus interferes with digestion and absorption, so the calcium it contains is not well utilised. In addition to this, calcium requires magnesium for its utilisation in the body – without sufficient magnesium, calcium cannot be utilised properly. Milk is a poor source of magnesium, while green leaves, are a rich source of both calcium and magnesium together. Also, unlike milk, green leaves are very clean, light foods which the body finds easy to handle, and they actually help to clear the body of mucous and toxins.

It is very interesting to note that the incidence of osteoporosis is very high in the so called ‘developed’ countries where large amounts of milk and meat are consumed; but is much lower in countries where few animal products are eaten.

Incidentally, when I talk about green leaves, I mean green leaves. I do not mean the pale white hearts found inside cabbage, lettuce, celery or chicory hearts – or any other blanched vegetable. I mean dark green leaves such as those found on plants of dandelion, green chicory, parsley, kale, various campanulas, thyme, reichardia, violas etc. See our leaflets on Winter Salads, edible leaves etc. for more examples.

Green leaves are also extremely rich sources of potassium – a mineral that tends to be lacking in the processed diet of industrial society. The potassium and sodium are in balance, there being much more potassium than sodium – which is the natural order of things. Processing foods tends to leach out the mineral rich and potassium rich part, and piles on lots of sodium in the form of salt, sodium bicarbonate (= bicarbonate of soda) and various other sodium salts. This excess of sodium causes serious imbalance in the body resulting in numerous health problems.

Green leaves are a very rich source of iron. They are also good sources of zinc, manganese cobalt, copper and many other minerals that we need, but tend not to think much about.

Green leaves are a rich source of the whole B complex (except perhaps B12 – which can be obtained by other means – see later). Pregnant women are often advised to take vitamin supplements, and especially folic acid, in order to prevent Spina bifida in babies. All they have to do, of course, is make sure they eat a salad every day since, of course, foliage is the best source of folic acid. The B complex is involved in many different bodily functions, but two of the most important ones are:-

1.The release of energy from food.
2.Maintaining the immune system.
So if you keep feeling tired or keep catching colds, perhaps you need to eat more green leaves!

Green leaves are the richest sources of carotene, or provitamin A, from which the body easily makes as much vitamin A as it needs. Pure vitamin A or retinol (found in animal products) is highly toxic if eaten to excess – Arctic explorers have been known to die from vitamin A and vitamin D poisoning after eating the livers of polar bears since this is where these vitamins are stored in particularly high concentration. Carotene is totally non toxic and in fact is very beneficial and healing in large quantities. It is a very useful antioxidant vitamin in these days of high pollution. I have heard of children going blind in India because they did not have enough vitamin A in their diet. No – they do not need high-tech eye operations – all they need is green leaves to restore their sight. So simple, so cheap, so easy! Carotene is also found in orange or yellow fruits or vegetables such as apricots and rosehips.

Freshly picked raw green leaves are excellent sources of vitamin C. Cooking, wilting, drying or storing the picked leaves in a warm place destroys much or all of the vitamin C, depending on how it is done. Amongst other things, vitamin C is very important for the function of the immune system, tissue repair, and it is an antioxidant vitamin. Vitamin C is present in all living and actively metabolising parts of plants, not just leaves (i.e. it is not present in dormant seeds, but is made in large amounts when seeds germinate.) Most people tend to be rather short of vitamin C because they do not eat enough fresh raw foods. Our forest dwelling ancestors living largely on fruits and leaves would have had an abundant supply of vitamin C.

We do not obtain vitamin D from leaves, but we can make our own if we regularly expose our skin to some sunlight. We do not need large quantities of sun for this nor do we need to sunbathe all day. We can also store vitamin D in the liver so we can stock up in the summer for the winter.

Vitamin E (another antioxidant vitamin) and vitamin K (essential for bloodclotting) are also abundant in green leaves.

Bioflavonoids, which are sometimes known as ‘vitamin F’, are various plant pigments which occur in green leaves in association with the chlorophyll; and also in many fruits, especially small berries such as rosehips. They are important for the utilisation of vitamin C and some people believe they are very good for the brain. Bioflavonoids are also beneficial to our health in many other ways. Thus rutin, which is found in the leaves of buckwheat, is a bioflavonoid that has a very beneficial effect on the circulatory system. The bioflavonoids found in the fruits of all Eleagnus and Hippophae species have been shown to be an effective preventative and treatment of cancer.

3. Essential Fatty Acids

Although leaves are very low in fats, the small amounts of fat that they do contain tend to consist of the essential fatty acids linoleic and alpha-linoleic acid. These are essential for the health of the immune system and in making cell membranes.

4. Proteins

And, believe it or not, green leaves contain a fair amount of top quality protein. On a dry weight basis, leaves are about 25% protein, so they are comparable to beans here. And unlike the storage proteins of most seeds, which tend to be somewhat short of one or more essential amino acid, green leaves are high in all of these substances. The reason for this is that leaf protein is actually in the form of enzymes (biological catalysts which speed up and direct biochemical reactions such as those responsible for photosynthesis, respiration, digestion and so on.) These are the many enzymes that work with that wonderful chlorophyll molecule in the process of photosynthesis. Not that I am recommending that you use leaves as your sole source of protein of course, but the protein content is there and not to be sneezed at.

As well as providing protein, the enzymes in raw leaves, and in other raw plant foods, actually help in the digestion of the particular food in which they are found, and are very beneficial to the body.

There is an association called “Leaf for Life/Find your Feet” which juices leaves and uses this as a protein supplement for children in countries like India. The resulting product is called “Leafu” and has greatly improved the health of many people there. The other advantage of leaf protein is that it is soluble and therefore easily digestible – unlike many other forms of protein.

5. Fiber

Leaves are an excellent source of healthy fiber. Lack of fiber (usually due to a diet of processed foods and animal products) causes pain, constipation and disease. Adequate fibre results in regular soft stools and health. The fibre in leaves is particularly beneficial and much healthier than excessive amounts of bran (from wheat) which can act as an intestinal irritant. In fact the fibre present in fresh raw leaves encourages the “friendly” lactobacteria – mainly Lactobacillus acidophilus in the intestines to proliferate and grow there. These bacteria thrive on green stuff. Inside us they make B vitamins (including B12) and vitamin K. They help in the digestion of food, help our immune system and help in keeping the “unfriendly” bacteria at bay. The “unfriendly” putrefactive bacteria, such as E.coli, proliferate when there is an absence of fibre and an abundance of decomposing remains of meat and milk. They do not make any vitamins, and instead encourage the putrefaction ( rather than digestion) of food and produce toxins and foul smells in the process. These bowel toxins are a major cause of disease in Western Society – and can even result in colon cancer! It is often said that dis-ease starts in a toxic colon. So – eat plenty of raw leaves to encourage the friendly lactobacteria.

6. Medicines

In addition to using green leaves as a food, specific green leaves make excellent natural medicines. Leaves generally are very cleansing, healing soothing and revitalising as well as being very nourishing. A green leaf juice is in fact an excellent nutritional supplement, and such juices are often used in natural therapies, including in the treatment of cancer. And they work! As Hippocrates the Father of Medicine said “Let Food be Your Medicine and Medicine be your Food”.

Specific leaves are good for specific things. For example dandelions and chicory are good for the liver and kidneys and are good blood purifiers. Dandelions are also good diuretics, but, unlike diuretic drugs which deplete the body of minerals especially potassium, dandelions are so high in potassium and other minerals that the body has a considerable positive gain in potassium despite the diuretic effect.

Nettles (and I do not recommend you eat these raw!) are good blood purifiers and help in the treatment of Arthritis. Mint and fennel leaves contain aromatic oils which help with the digestion of food and also dispel intestinal gases. The juice from comfrey leaves and or Aloe Vera leaves applied directly to a wound, burn or ulcer, will greatly speed up the healing process. (If you want more information on this aspect of leaves then read the books ‘The New Holistic Herbal’ by David Hoffman, ‘The Dictionary of Modern Herbalism’ by Simon Mills and ‘The RHS Encyclopaedia of Herbs and their Uses’ by Deni Bown.

To summarize

It is the chlorophyll in green leaves which is responsible for virtually all life on earth. No green leaves – no life. Leaves are the powerhouses of the plants where sunlight energy is transformed into plant energy. And when we eat leaves we eat this energy, vitality, life-force and power which has wonderful energising properties for our whole beings. If you eat a leaf – you take in Life!

Dr. Ann Wigmore, taught us the principals which have been brought forth in this article. We CHI are blessed to have our diet based in chlorophyll rich foods. If you would like more information on our programs and classes, contact Bobby Morgan at 866.426.1213
