Raw Chocolates Amazing Substances… No Wonder We Love It

Here is a partial list of some of the “rawmazing” active substances found in organic  raw chocolate

  • Anandamide (a neurotransmitter known as “the bliss chemical”)
  • Arginine (nature’s aphrodisiac)
  • Dopamine (a neurotransmitter)
  • Epicatechins (antioxidants)
  • Magnesium (for healthy heart function)
  • Serotonin (anti-stress neurotransmitter)
  • Phenylethylamine (PEA) (controls the ability to focus attention and stay alert)
  • Polyphenols (antioxidants)
  • Tryptophan (anti-depressant amino acid)

Raw Chocolate Can Make You Feel Happy And Put A Smile On Your Face.

Can Raw Chocolate Help You Be Happy And Put A Smile On Your Face? For centuries chocolate had been know as a  “comfort food”. Most of us have looked to chocolate to help us feel better when we are a little stressed, depressed, love lorned and maybe just having a bad day.

Scientist tell us the reason we find ourselves reaching for the chocolate  is that certain chemicals found raw cacao can affect parts of the brain which send out the “I Feel Happy Signals”. The main chemical which is responsible for the happy feeling is Phenylethylamine (PEA) which increases the activity of neurotransmitters (brain chemicals) in certain areas of the brain which control the ability to focus attention and stay alert. What’s really “rawmazing” is that we naturally experience elevated PEA levels when we are falling in love,  enjoying a movie, reading a good book, or are  focused on a project or task that we love doing. When PEA a levels are heightened we find ourselves losing  track of time and are  sometimes not consciously aware of what is happening in our personal universe. Raw Cacao contains and average of around  2% PEA (phenylethylamine). So, yes there is a good reason for all the smiling people who are eating raw chocolate.

Another set of chemicals found in raw chocolate which create “I Feel Happy Signals” is monoamine oxidase inhibitors… Wow that is just to big of a mouth full, so lets call them by their nickname “MAO inhibitors”.  Dr. Gabriel Cousens and Daivid Wolfe have studied the effects of the MAO inhibitors and  have shown that they allow the neurotransmitters such as anandamide (“The Bliss Chemical”) and dopamine to stay in the blood system longer and thus play and important role in facilitating anti-aging and rejuvenation of the bodies organs.

When we can increase the amount and time of the “the bliss chemicals in our blood system we feel more joy and  our ability to create and live at higher health levels cause our bodies to have a tendency to rejuvenate and we can actually turn back the hands of time.  So, be happy and eat raw chocolate to your hearts content! Well maybe not that much…

The easiest and most popular appliance is a high speed blender. This is to a raw living foodist, what a stove is too a a professional chef. You’ll make smoothies, shakes and soups within minutes. And you’ll use it many times a day. The two brands most used are the Vitamix and Blendtec blender. They’re equally good. There is also a new blender that is sold by Montel Willam’s company and shows great promise.

The best raw food juicer, depends on what you expect to be juicing most. Carrots are easiest in a centrifuge juicer, whereas green leafy vegetables go best in a twin gear juicer. You have a juice bar around the corner and as long as you can the volume of juice you nee to support your lifestyle, you may choose to buy your juice already made instead of investing in a good juicer. Our feeling is that you should make this investment. there instead. If you buy a centrifuge juicer, make sure you’ll buy one where you can juice whole apples and carrots (so no pre-cutting). There are many inexpensive centrifuge juicers, so find one that (same) and the most used twin gear is the Greenstar Juicer.

A dehydrator is a fun tool, but you can live without. For intermediate to advanced raw living foodists, the dehydrator is a fun tool to make “breads”, cookies and travel snacks. The Excalibur dehydrator is the most popular.

A water purifier is something you will want. More economical than buying bottled water, and  when you purify your own water you know you are getting the best quality water, for you and your family.  Having your own spring or artesian well would be wonderful but most are not so lucky to have one. You can buy a good a tap filter, or under-counter model, buy don’t forget the bathtub and shower filter. Your body is your largest organ and taken in the water that you bath in.You may even want to spend some extra money adding an ionizer.

A food processor is fun and is necessary if you are going to be above 80% raw and make gourmet foods. Her at Creative Health Institute, it’s just as easy to use a knife or the much cheaper and smaller mandoline or spiral slicer. When you have a lot to slicing or dicing and mixing to do, nothing beats a food processor, so if you have space and a few extra dollars  buy one, but it’s not as important as a good blender in a raw living  food kitchen.

A coffee grinder is great for finely grinding nuts, seeds and cacao beans in smaller quantities. A grinder is small and relatively inexpensive. Not an absolute must to have in a raw living food kitchen, but is so inexpensive that not having one would just be a personal preference choice.

I love the hand blender! To me, it’s a simple and cheap version of  a table model high speed blender. If you have the cuisinart hand blender with 700 Watt, you can use it where you’d use the high speed blenders,  course your food won’t be as smooth and it won’t break the cell walls down,  as efficiently as a high speed table model. However, it’s great for traveling, for making green smoothies, energy soups,  quick pesto’s and small amounts of sauce etc.

Other Great Tools

Once you have the basics, other fun tools to consider are:

  • Knifes
  • Mandoline
  • Cutting Board
  • Spiralizer
  • Nut Milk Bag
  • Water Bottle
  • Fun & Beautiful China and Silverware
  • Fun Table Decorations Candles, Napkins

How to decide what appliances to buy?

1. What kind of recipes would you like to make?
Juices, blends, crackers, pastas? Do you prefer quick and easy recipes such as smoothies, soups and juices or do you like gourmet food.
Simple raw food recipes: high speed blender, juicer, knifes, hand blender, water purifier.
Gourmet: dehydrator, ice-maker, mandoline, spiralizer, sprouter.

2. How much time do you have for raw living food preparation?
Little time: blender, centrifuge juicer, apple slicer, maybe dehydrator, cleaver, coffee grinder, hand blender, water purifier.
More time: mandoline, spiralizer, sprouter, nut milk bag, twin gear juicer, dehydrator, food processor.

3. How much space do you have in your kitchen?
Small kitchen: centrifuge juicer, (hand)blender, nut bag,  high speed blender.
Large kitchen: twin gear juicer, dehydrator, water purifier, distiller, sprouter, table top blender.

4. Consider your budget
How much do you want to spend on your new kitchen equipment? If you are on a tight budget, choose only what you need most. To save money, you might consider asking (money for) kitchen tools for X-mas or your birthday.
Low budget: You Fill This In With What You Think You Can Afford!

Life In The Raw – Yes Even Raw Vegans Need To Laugh

  • Bob C. – How many vegans does it take to change a lightbulb? Two, one to change it and one to check for animal ingredients.
  • Told by an omnivore friend with intent to anger – How many vegans does it take to change a lightbulb? None, vegans can’t change anything.
  • Bianca & Jade – How many meat eaters does it take to change a lightbulb? None, they would rather stay in the dark about things.
  • Amanda – Why did the chicken cross the road? Because Colonel Sanders was chasing him.
SchneidersWhy did the vegetarian cross the road? Because she was protesting for the chicken, MAN! (Pump fist in air for emphasis) [This one did make me chuckle for some reason.]
  • Why did the tofu cross the road?To prove he wasn’t chicken.
  • The parrot joke – A man had a parrot that could talk. Unfortunately, it swore a lot. In an effort to get the parrot to be quiet, he put him in a cupboard. The parrot continued swearing and after a while the man decided to put the bird in the freezer. After that, the parrot started swearing even more. After a few minutes, he suddenly became quiet. The man opened up the freezer and the parrot said, “I’m sorry, sir, it will never happen again.” As the man took the bird out of the freezer he wondered what the difference was between the cupboard and the freezer. Just then, the parrot said, “So, uh, what’d the chicken do?”

On Being Vegan

  • Inspired by Paul WS – Why does vegan cheese taste bad? It hasn’t been tested on mice.
  • Pat – What do you call a militant vegan? Lactose intolerant.
  • Michael Cant -What’s the best way to keep milk fresh?Leave it in the cow.
  • Dada Unmantrananda – Why don’t yogis eat chickens? They have eggs in them!
  • Colleen’s roomate at school made this joke up herself – What do you call a vegetarian who goes back to eating meat? Someone who lost their veg-inity!
  • Inspired by Wastel a meat eater – Did you hear about the new study saying vegans are more likely to go blind? I guess it’s because you don’t get the proper nutrition. Vegan: Nah, it’s just from reading all of those tiny ingredients lists.
  • Nina – I’m not vegetarian because I love animals, I’m vegetarian because I don’t like vegetables.
  • Linda: – Do you know what veganism is? Jeff: No, tell me. Linda: It means no eggs and no milk! Jeff: Hmm, but how do you bread your steak?
  • H.Ko.Kent: Tell me, how do you spice your veggie-burgers? Linda: I don’t know, but the main thing is that it mustn’t taste good!
  • What did one vegetarian spy say to the other vegetarian spy?We have to stop meating like this.
  • Scott- Can vegetarians eat animal crackers?
  • vegemike -I don’t know about these people who call themselves vegetarians but eat eggs and dairy. I mean, I’ve heard of eggplants, but there no such thing as a cheesetree.
    Tom responds:What about milkweed?
  • A Seinfeldism pointed out by Peter B. – Isn’t it wierd that we drink milk, stuff designed to nourish baby cows? How did that happen? Did some cattleman once say, “Oh, man, I can’t wait till them calves are done so I can get me a hit of that stuff.”
  • Melanie – A guy has celery sticking out of one ear, lettuce out of the other, and a zucchini up his nose.He goes to the doctor and asks him what’s wrong. The doctor tells him, “Well, for one thing, you’re not eating right.”
  • Jules(paraphrased from a very old “Reader’s Digest”) – A couple heard that their vegetarian son was coming home from university for Thanksgiving.”Kill the fatted zucchini, Martha! Our prodigal son is returning.”

  • On Eating People

    • Cleveland AmoryA missionary was walking in Africa when he heard the ominous sound of a lion behind him. “Oh Lord,” prayed the missionary, “Grant in Thy goodness that the lion walking behind me is a good Christian lion.” And then, in the silence that followed, the missionary heard the lion praying too: “Oh Lord,” he prayed, “We thank Thee for the food which we are about to receive.”
    • Seen on a message board – I follow a strict vegan diet. I eat only vegans.
    • Amy W. – Do you serve vegans here? Of course, how would you like them cooked? (This actually happened when my dad called a restaurant.)
    • Etan W. – Two chums were talking at a ballgame and one offered to buy the other a hotdog. “No thanks,” came the answer. “I’m a vegetarian. I mean, I’ll eat a little white meat, but…” “Oh, I understand. Hey, I’m no cannibal. I mean, I’ll eat a few white people, but…”
    • If vegetarians eat vegetables, what do humanitarians eat?
    • A bumper sticker – 9 out of 10 cannibals agree–vegetarians taste better!
    • Yaron Livne from Israel- A vegetarian, a meat-eater, and a cannibal walk into a bar, the veg’ orders a salad, the other orders a burger, than the bartender asks the cannibal “anything for you?”, so he replies, “no thanks, i’ll wait till they’re done.”

How To Peserve Food & Enzymes From Your Summer Garden…

Its nearing the end of summer in the northern hemisphere and it time to store our fruits, vegetables and berries which we have collected from our summer gardens. What we are going to share with you will not necessarily prove popular with some in the raw food community, but we believe in good science an therefore we have to speak out, as the health of 0ur family and friends is much more important to us than raw food dogma.

We therefore  suggest freezing as much locally grown organic raw vegetables, fruits and berries as possible, unless you have access t this level of fresh living  nutrition year around.

The freezing process will cause the enzymes to become inactive thereby preserving the nutritional values. Testing shows there will be a reduction in the enzymatic action of some of the enzymes but the freezing will not denature all the enzymes, like cooking does.  Scientist estimate only 10%-30%. of the enzymes are denatured in the freezing process.produce hauling truck We feel you will be much better off eating fresh, frozen, organically grown produce, rather than having to purchase food that has not been left to ripen on the vine . The grocery stores are also selling food which has traveled across the country, or has been flown in from halfway around the world, so the food source is sometimes unknown and with the loss of water volume much of the vitamins and phyto-nutrients have been reduced.

Once fruits, vegetables or berries are cut from the vine ,their nutrient source, they begin to immediately looses nutrients. A piece of produce two weeks enzyme deathold may have lost 50% of its nutritional value.

Our bodies need real food that is nutritionally dense, whether raw and untouched or frozen. The choice is your and we honor your choices.prehistoric man

Cooking food was the way early man preserved it. There was no refrigeration or dehydration. To keep there food from rotting they had to stop the enzymatic processes and that’s why when we cook our food the enzymes begin to decrease. This decrease starts between 104 and 106 degrees and by the time the temperature reaches 120 degrees all the enzymes are destroyed.

Cooking food also diminishes the oxygen levels, destroying the foods ability to bring life giving oxygen to our cells.  An easy way to remember the best temperature to cook you foods is “105 stay alive”.

If you are in the area we would love you to stop by and visit the garden here at Creative Health Institute. Dr. Ann Wigmore loved the gardens here at the institute and we have many unpublished pictures of her in the garden and on the grounds picking more than 30 varieties of wild edibles.

Remember raw food is amazing and nutritious, but raw living food is what you need to be eating to experience the highest level of health.Wishing you  healthiest life ever.

Wheatgrass The Green Food Miracle… The More You Know About This Super Food, The More You Love It!

“Until man duplicates a blade of grass, nature can laugh at his so-called scientific knowledge.”  Thomas A. Edison

    1. A shot of wheatgrass is 70% chlorophyll, 12% water, 12% protein, 2.2crude fiber, 2% fat, 1.8% minerals.
    2. Wheatgrass grown here at Creative Health Institute contains 92 of the 102 known minerals.
    3. Wheatgrass contains 13 essential vitamins and minerals.
    4. 20 plus amino acids are found in Creative Health Institutes wheatgrass.
    5. Dr. Ann Wigmore taught, when we drink wheatgrass juice, on a regular basis we feel a positive difference in strength, endurance, health, and spirituality, and experience a sense of well-being.
    6. The enzymes, amino acids and chlorophyll in wheatgrass juice contain antibacterial compounds that are especially good at destroying anaerobic bacteria that thrive in oxygen-poor blood and tissue.
    7. Science has proven that chlorophyll arrests growth and development  of unfriendly bacteria.
    8. Because wheatgrass is 70% Chlorophyll its makes short work of bacteria and can be used inside and outside the body as a healer.
    9. Dr. Birscher, a research scientist, called chlorophyll “concentrated sun power.” He said, “Chlorophyll increases the function of the heart, affects the vascular system, the intestines, the uterus, and the lungs.”
    10. Wheatgrass the most powerful source of living chlorophyll available.
    11. Wheatgrass juice is great for blood disorders of all kinds, including anemia
    12.  A recent study in The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine found that supplementing with the natural antioxidants found in wheatgrass “holds great promise in overcoming the ill effects of oxygen toxicity,”.
    13. Wheatgrass Juice reduces high blood pressure and enhances the capillaries.
    14. Wheatgrass juice is 70% chlorophyll and can be taken by a human or animal orally, vaginally, as a poultice and as a colon implant.
    15. Wheatgrass implants (enemas) are great for healing and detoxifying the colon walls.  The implants also heal and cleanse the internal organs.  After a pure water enema, wait 10 minutes, and then implant 3-6 ounces of wheatgrass juice.  Retain it for 20 minutes.
    16. Enema’s containing wheatgrass have proven to eliminate constipation.
    17. Wheatgrass has no known toxic side effects and is a very strong detoxifier.
    18. Wheatgrass is easily absorbed and carries high levels of oxygen to the body.
    19. Being loaded with chlorophyll and chlorophyll being the first product of light, wheatgrass therefore contains massive amounts of light energy.
    20. Chlorophyll is the lifeblood of plant life and easily assimilated into our bodies.
    21. Wheatgrass helps us to think clearer as it feeds our brain, tissues and organs with optimal levels of oxygenated nutrients.
    22. Dr. Ann Wigmore proved that wheatgrass takes minutes to digest wheatgrass juice and uses up very little body energy.
    23. Wheat grass rejuvenates tissues, thus slowing the aging process.
    24. The amino acids in wheat grass are absorbed directly into the blood and act to neutralize toxic substances like cadmium, nicotine, strontium, mercury and polyvinyl chloride (a type of plastic) by changing them into insoluble salts that the body can eliminate easily.
    25. Wheatgrass rebuilds the bloodstream.  Studies of various animals have shown chlorophyll to be free of any toxic reaction.  The red cell count was returned to normal within 4 to 5 days of the administration of chlorophyll, even in those animals which were known to be extremely anemic or low in red cell count.
    26. Just soaking in a bathtub of wheatgrass bath for ½ hour for each day for 5 days will raise the red blood cell count.
    27. Wheatgrass has been shown to remove heavy metals from the body.
    28. Wheatgrass has a positive effect on sterility and can restore fertility. (The high magnesium content in chlorophyll builds enzymes that restore the sex hormones.)
    29. Wheatgrass juice held in the mouth for 5 minutes will help eliminate toothaches.  It pulls poisons from the gums.
    30. We are called the “Wheatgrass Place”. As we adhere to the teachings and traditions of Dr. Ann Wigmore who taught here during our institutes first 8 summers.
    31.  Do what Dr. Ann Wigmore did and drink Wheatgrass Juice to keep your hair from graying.
    32. Creative Health Institute has been showing people how to take charge of their lives, drink wheatgrass and recover from chronic and life threatening health disorders for 38 years.

Be Sure Exercise Is All You Get at the Gym

By JANE E. BRODY, Published: August 2, 2010

When you go to the gym, do you wash your hands before and after using the equipment? Bring your own regularly cleaned mat for floor exercises? Shower with antibacterial soap and put on clean clothes immediately after your workout? Use only your own towels, razors, bar soap, water bottles?

If you answered “no” to any of the above, you could wind up with one of the many skin infections that can spread like wildfire in athletic settings. In June, the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, known as N.A.T.A., issued a position paper on the causes, prevention and treatment of skin diseases in athletes that could just as well apply to anyone who works out in a communal setting, be it a school, commercial gym or Y.

The authors pointed out that “skin infections in athletes are extremely common” and account for more than half the outbreaks of infectious diseases that occur among participants in competitive sports. And if you think skin problems are minor, consider what happened to Kyle Frey, a 21-year-old junior and competitive wrestler at Drexel University in Philadelphia.

Mr. Frey noticed a pimple on his arm last winter but thought little of it. He competed in a match on a Saturday, but by the next morning the pimple had grown to the size of his biceps and had become very painful.

His athletic trainer sent him straight to the emergency room, where the lesion was lanced and cultured. Two days later, he learned he had MRSA, the potentially deadly staphylococcus infection that is resistant to most antibiotics.

Mr. Frey spent five days in the hospital, where the lesion was surgically cleaned and stitched and treated with antibiotics that cleared the infection. He said in an interview that he does not know how he acquired MRSA: “The wrestling mat might have been contaminated, or I wrestled with someone who had the infection.”

If it could happen to Mr. Frey, who said he has always been health-conscious in the gym and careful about not sharing his belongings, it could happen to you.

    The Risks

Recreational athletes as well as participants in organized sports are prone to fungal, viral and bacterial skin infections. Sweat, abrasion and direct or indirect contact with the lesions and secretions of others combine to make every athlete’s skin vulnerable to a host of problems. While MRSA may be the most serious skin infection, athlete’s foot, jock itch, boils, impetigo, herpes simplex and ringworm, among others, are not exactly fun or attractive.

Athletes who are infected should be kept from competing in matches for a week or more until treatment renders them noninfectious. The authors of the trainers’ study warned against simply covering infections like herpes and active bacterial lesions in order to return to competition.

Likewise, people like you and me who work out at a facility or swim in a public pool should stay away until cleared by a doctor who is well versed in skin diseases.

Steven M. Zinder, a trainer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and chief author of the new paper, said in an interview that these recommendations are not esoteric.

“It’s what we all learned — or should have learned — in sixth-grade health class,” he said. “It’s all common sense. You need to keep yourself and your equipment clean. You never know who last used the equipment in a gym. It can be a great breeding ground for these bugs, some of which are pretty nasty.”

The report, published in the August issue of The Journal of Athletic Training, stated, “Athletes must shower after every practice and game with an antibacterial soap and water over the entire body.”

Dr. Zinder noted that after a workout, women tend not to shower at the facility, while men, who are more likely to shower, often fail to cleanse their entire bodies, including their feet. Well-equipped facilities should provide antibacterial liquid soap.

“You should be showering at the gym and putting on clean clothes that are kept separate from the dirty ones,” he said. In fact, he added, it’s best to have two bags, one only for clean clothes, and to wash the dirty-clothes bag now and then.

    Assume Exposure

Jack Foley, athletic trainer and director of sports medicine at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., and co-author of the report, said athletes should always assume they are exposed to skin infections.

At any given time, he said in an interview, one person in three in the United States suffers from a skin disease that can be spread to others, even while in the incubation stage.

The report noted that there had been “an alarming increase in the prevalence of MRSA” in the noses of both healthy children and adults. Thus, sneezing into one’s hand or blowing one’s nose without washing with an antibacterial cleanser afterward may spread these dangerous bacteria to others.

While hand hygiene is most important over all , avoiding fungal infections requires a daily change of athletic socks and underwear; carefully drying the armpits and groin and between toes (perhaps blow-drying the feet on low heat); and using foot powder. Shower shoes can help prevent infection as long as they don’t keep you from soaping your feet.

A viral infection called molluscum contagiosum may not be on the popular tongue, but it is commonly seen in young children and , spread through skin-to-skin contact, is not uncommon among athletes, including swimmers, cross-country runners and wrestlers, the report stated.

Prevention of this highly contagious infection requires “meticulous hygiene” after contact with secretions from other athletes through benches, towels and mats.

If you plan to work out in a gym or use a locker room, Mr. Foley suggested that before choosing a facility, you quiz the management about the cleaning agents used (they should be approved by the Environmental Protection Agency) and daily cleaning schedule for all surfaces and equipment. If exercise mats are not cleaned between classes, he suggested bringing your own. Antibacterial wipes or spray bottles should be provided and used by everyone to clean equipment after a workout.

Obesity Rates Keep Rising, Troubling Health Officials

    By DENISE GRADY
    Published: August 3, 2010
Americans are continuing to get fatter and fatter, with obesity rates reaching 30 percent or more in nine states last year, as opposed to only three states in 2007, health officials reported on Tuesday.

The increases mean that 2.4 million more people became obese from 2007 to 2009, bringing the total to 72.5 million, or 26.7 percent of the population. The numbers are part of a continuing and ominous trend.

But the rates are probably underestimates because they are based on a phone survey in which 400,000 participants were asked their weight and height instead of having it measured by someone else, and people have a notorious tendency to describe themselves as taller and lighter than they really are.

“Over the past several decades, obesity has increased faster than anyone could have imagined it would,” said Dr. Thomas Frieden, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which issued a report on the prevalence of obesity. Obesity rates have doubled in adults and tripled in children in recent decades, Dr. Frieden said.

If the numbers keep going up, he added, “more people will get sick and die from the complications of obesity, such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes and cancer.”

The report estimates the medical costs of obesity to be as high as $147 billion a year, and notes that “past efforts and investments to prevent and control obesity have not been adequate.”

Researchers blame the usual suspects: too little exercise and too much of the wrong kind of food, which means not enough fruits and vegetables and too many high-calorie meals full of sugar and fat, like French fries, soda and other sweet drinks. Children do not get enough exercise during the school day; Dr. Frieden noted that even in gym classes, students are active for only about a third of the time.

A 5-foot-4-inch woman is obese if she weighs 174 pounds, as is a 5-foot-10-inch man who weights 209 or more, according to the disease centers. Both would have a body-mass index, or BMI, of 30; that index is calculated from height and weight, and scores of 30 or over are defined as obese.

The nine states with obesity rates of 30 percent or more are Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and West Virginia. The highest rate, 34.4 percent, was in Mississippi.

People over 50 had higher rates of obesity than those who were younger. The aging of the population may account for some of the general increase in obesity, but not all of it, said Dr. Heidi Blanck, chief of the disease centers’ obesity branch of the division of nutrition, physical activity and obesity.

Non-Hispanic black women had the highest obesity rate, 41.9 percent. Over all, blacks and Hispanics were more likely than whites to be obese, and the more education people had, the less likely they were to be heavy.

Only Colorado and Washington, D.C., had obesity rates under 20 percent. Researchers are not sure why. Dr. William Dietz, director of the nutrition, physical activity and obesity division, said that Colorado had spent money from a state lottery on biking and walking trails and that many people were using them. The state seems to have “a culture of physical activity,” he said.

Dr. Dietz said the relatively low prevalence of obesity in Washington was harder to explain, particularly because the area has a large black population.

He said one explanation may be that many residents ride the subway; studies have shown that compared with people who drive, those who use public transportation tend to be thinner because it involves more walking. In addition, Dr. Dietz said, there is evidence of above-average fruit and vegetable consumption, and higher rates of breast-feeding, both of which are linked to lower rates of obesity.

Quick Relief Yeast Infection Treatments To Consider

Apple Cider Vinegar  – 0ne of the most popular time honored treatments for a yeast infection is raw apple cider vinegar.  Apple cider vinegar works very well at eliminating yeast and at the same time balances  your pH. This simple treatment is one you can incorporate in to your daily routine. In the morning  simply mix one- two  tablespoons of raw apple cider vinegar  in a glass of water and sip it. You can even add Stevia to the drink to give it a flavor much like Kombucha.

Be ready for possible  discomfort as this treatment will rapidly kill off a large number of Candida yeasts, which results in more yeast toxins being absorbed into the bloodstream through the intestines – causing symptoms which include nausea, dizziness, general weakness and/or headaches.

Consider doing regular enema’s or colonics along with a once a week bath which includes a cup of raw apple cider vinegar. Relax in the bath for at least 20 minutes and enjoy the internal and external benefits or the healing effects of the bath.

Garlic –  has a natural anti-fungal agent that hates yeast!  We have found that garlic usually brings about instant relief from infection symptoms. For women, inserting one Kyolic garlic capsule or a garlic clove into the vagina every few hours provides soothing relief. If you do not have access to a garlic capsule you can press a whole garlic clove, mix it with water and drink it, or wrap in a gauze and place it in your vagina.  Men should ingest Kyolic garlic or press the fresh garlic into a glass of water and drink it down.

Yogurt– We have finally found a good use for a dairy product.  Yogurt when not ingested, but used internally and topically does a great job in providing women with immediate relief of vaginal yeast infection symptoms. The only yogurt which should be used is plain yogurt with active cultures listed on the side of the container. NO fruit, NO added sugar and NO flavoring in it of ANY type. You will also need a box of organic tampons. When you are ready to begin the treatment dip a tampons into the yogurt and insert it into the vagina, keeping it in place for at least two hours. This treatment is will the “good bacteria” right where it is needed. Continue this for once or twice a day, until the situation resolves itself.  You may want to end your Yogurt treatment with a treatment of organic coconut oil. Soak an organic cotton tampon in coconut oil for a few minutes and insert it into the vagina. Leave it in for overnight or maximum 8 hours. Repeat it for 5 nights.

Tea tree oil – sometimes referred to as Melaleuca oil, is a known natural antifungal. Never drink Tea Tree Oil as it can be toxic. You can saturate a cotton ball with the oil and use it externally to kill yeast.  If you are going to use the tea tree oil for a external yeast infections it is best that when you apply it to sensitive skin, you to dilute it in a solution of water. Test it in small sensitive area of your skin before proceeding. Women can pour a few drops of undiluted tea tree oil on a tampon and insert it into the vagina. Do this morning and night for 2-3 days.

    Yeast Infections, A Quick Overview

There are many natural treatments for yeast infections. The challenge is finding the one that will eliminate the symptoms, bring immediate comfort and quickly strengthen your body, so your immune system will keep any new over growth of yeast in check.

One of the twenty funguses known as Candida Albicans usually causes a yeast infection and the infection it causes is Candidiasis. It is estimated that over 75% of women suffer from vaginal yeast infection at least once in their lifetime. Even with such a large percentage of women suffers, Candidiasis is not just a “female disease”, it is also found in males and in children as well, no matter what age or sex. Candida yeast also produce (as a waste product) more than 75 toxic substances that poison the human body. The two major toxins (canditoxin and ethanol) have a negative effect on our brain and can significantly interfere with our biochemical processes.  If Candida Albicans is not treated properly, it can cause many severe health challenges.

Not all people who are infected with Candidiasis get the same symptoms, some of the ways the infection shows up are in the forms of: acne, allergies, arthritis, athlete’s foot , attention deficit disorder –  ADD, bloating, blurred vision, brain fog, carbohydrate cravings, chronic rashes, constipation, chronic feeling of tiredness or fatigue, depression, digestive problems and pain, eczema, headaches, hypoglycemia, irritable bowel syndrome –  IBS, itching or burning sensation in our intimate parts irritability, jock itch, joint pain-especially hips, hands and knees, menstrual pain, muscle aches, oral thrush, painful urination, painful sex, premenstrual syndrome – PMS, rectal itching, vaginal odor, vaginal discharge and vaginal itching.

This listing of possible symptoms is not intended to be fully comprehensive and is not intended to cover every type of symptom. It is wise to seek help from your trusted health advisor, as some of the symptoms could be indications of other health challenges.

Creative Health Institutes Take On Raw Living Food And The Great Protein Myth

     Creative Health Institute
    Debunks
     “The Protein Myth”

Decreasing The Amount Of Meat You Eat Could Save Your Life
    No Meat
The Raw Living Food Lifestyle Provides The Best Source Of Protein On The Planet!
The first question most students ask upon embarking on our program steeped in the traditons of Ann Wigmore’s Raw Living Foods Lifestyle is; where do we get our protein? This is a good question, so on  our first evening together we address their question by going through the list of protein rich fruits, vegetables, seed, nuts and sprouts they will be eating during their stay at the institute. Upon seeing the list of fruits, vegetable, seed, nuts and sprouts and the amount of protein they will be consuming on a daily basis there usually is a resounding WOW! They learn that by embracing this lifestyle they will not only get enough protein, they will be getting the vitamins, minerals, phyto-nutrients, live enzymes and the right combination of amino acids combined to form protein which is perfectly designed for their body’s. We’ve been brainwashed by the meat, dairy and supplement companies into thinking we need one gram of protein per pound of bodyweight, but science has NEVER shown that humans need that level of protein.  The truth is most foods have some combination of protein, carbohydrates and fat -and vegetables contain all three macro-nutrients!  The World Health Organization (W.H.O) has stated we need to consume a minimum of 10% of your daily caloric intake from protein to be healthy and build lean muscle mass. If you are eating a 2,000-calorie diet, 10% of your diet should be made up of protein, which would be 200 calories. Each gram of protein has 4 calories, so that calculates out to 50 grams of protein per day.  Getting this level of protein is easy to do if you are practicing the Living Foods Lifestyle.
Wishing all of you the best life ever.

More M.D’s Begin Supporting Natural Diabetes Reversal!

A raw foods diet eliminates processed sugars and starches, and substitutes these for organic, whole plant foods that have not been cooked. Dr. Gabriel Cousens, a leading natural healer, embraces the philosophy of including natural diabetes treatments. His approach  through green juice fasting and a 100 percent organic, nutrient-dense, plant source-only, low-glycemic, low-insulin-scoring, and high-mineral diet of living foods during the first twenty-one days of healing.  (citation: Cousens, Gabriel, and David Rainoshek. There Is a Cure for Diabetes: the Tree of Life 21-day Program. Berkeley, Calif.: North Atlantic, 2008. Print.)
According to Dr. Cousens research, it has been shown that this program renders insulin and related medicines unnecessary for most Type II patients within four days as the blood sugar drops to normal levels; and the diabetic shifts into a non-diabetic physiology within two weeks.(citation: Cousens, Gabriel, and David Rainoshek. There Is a Cure for Diabetes: the Tree of Life 21-day Program. Berkeley, Calif.: North Atlantic, 2008. Print.)
Gabriel Cousens, M.D. received his M.D. from Columbia Medical School and has more than 35 years experience in treating diabetes naturally. 57% of the varieties of Type 2 diabetics come off all medications and have a blood sugar of less than 100 within 21 days. (citation: Cousens, Gabriel, and David Rainoshek. There Is a Cure for Diabetes: the Tree of Life 21-day Program. Berkeley, Calif.: North Atlantic, 2008. Print.) All of Dr. Cousens’ program participants heal themselves naturally through a plant-source-only, live foods diet.

We are so thankful for to Dr. Cousens and David Rainoshek for their research and pointing the way for diabetics to cure their own diabetes.

This ranking is based on the 72,507 death certificates in 2006 in which diabetes was listed as the underlying cause of death. According to death certificate reports, diabetes contributed to a total of 233,619 deaths in 2005, the latest year for which data on contributing causes of death are available.

Researchers Blame The Standard American Diet!

Diabetes is now at epidemic proportions in the US and it is getting worse every year. Most researchers blame the Standard American Diet (SAD) and a lack of exercise for this disease and believe the only way to stop this monster from terrorizing humanity is to re-educate and change the American peoples eating habits. In the past 10 years this epidemic had taken 100’s of thousands of lives and cost billions of dollars, it really is that bad and many people are ignorant of it until it is too late.
Because of the severity of this epidemic, Creative Health Institute (CHI) has stepped up and implemented a program that addresses the diabetes epidemic with our living foods diet and exercise. Together they have proven to be the critical elements in controlling this disease. We work shoulder to shoulder, almost on a weekly basis, helping our students reverse their diabetes.

By 2050, an estimated 48 million Americans will have type II diabetes as the epidemic continues unabated, according to new federal projections. We believe this epidemic can be turned around. Let your friends with diabetes know there is an alternative.

    Drug Warning

Tue Jul 13, 3:46 pm ET

WASHINGTON (AFP) – British pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline hid the dangers of its top-selling diabetes drug Avandia and secretly wrote scientific articles about it, two US lawmakers charged Tuesday. The allegations came as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) opened a two-day meeting of experts who will weigh whether to pull Avandia from the market over safety concerns. In a letter dated Monday and addressed to FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg, Senators Max Baucus and Charles Grassley accused Glaxo of covering up scientific studies that found problems with Avandia and of including the drug in a “ghostwriting” program.

If you know of a friend or loved one who is suffering with diabetes have them get in-touch with Creative Health Institute (CHI). We have seen 100’s of people bring their blood sugar back to normal in as less than 3 weeks.
