Weight Loss Tips and Inspiration: Day 5

Weight Loss Tip # 4: Give up caffine!

And during your transition away from caffine use 1 or 2 T of maca every day for a natural energy boost. You can put maca in smoothies and energy soup or sprinkle it on your cereal in the morning. Or drink a warm cup of Yerba Mate.

Studies have shown that caffeine contributes to insulin resistance (thus making it harder to lose weight), increases appetite (again making it harder to lose weight) and contributes to food cravings (making it difficult to adhere to a weight loss diet). In those studies, even decaffeinated coffee is shown to be detrimental to weight loss.

Daily Inspiration: “Be willing to be a beginner every single morning.”
~Meister Eckhart

Paper newspaper journalists always used to call the paper “The Daily Miracle.” Before the online delivery of news and the ability to make rapid corrections to online stories, mistakes in the paper caused moments of grief and worry for conscientious journalists.  But the worry was kept in perspective because they took comfort in knowing every single day they had the opportunity to create an entirely new product from start to finish. Every day — despite tight deadlines, breaking news, political disagreements, equipment breakdowns and other problems — the newspapers were printed. What a wonderful analogy for a life well lived. Each day we live we have the opportunity to approach every situation with courage and gusto. We have the opportunity every day to participate in a miracle.
