Weight Loss Tips and Inspiration: Day 1

Weight Loss Tip:  Get Your Bounce On Before Breakfast!

Jump on a miniature trampoline (rebounder) for thirty minutes every morning.  This exercise, which we call rebounding, is the best thing you can do to protect your immune system every day and it also helps to give a boost to your metabolism so you burn calories better all day long.

At CHI we use Rebound Air rebounders which sell for about $200 to $250 retail. Some people have had success starting out with $40 to $60 miniature trampolines which often can be purchased at places such as Walmart, Target and Dunham Sports. Some people report getting shin splints on the lower-priced trampolines — so if you use one, pay attention to your body. Don’t jump if you experience pain from jumping. Some of our CHI friends have reported to us that they used the lower-priced trampolines regularly for a year or longer with no problems.

It is so very important to bounce every morning no matter what!  If the weather is great, bounce outside and enjoy the fabulous fresh air while you bounce. Miniature trampolines are the best. You can also use a jump rope (but if you do, make sure you have good arch support in your shoes!) or, if you have back troubles that make it difficult for you to stand for 30 minutes at a time, use a yoga ball. Just bounce bounce bounce for 30 minutes. If you start today, you will be amazed at how much better you feel within 30 days!

If bouncing is difficult for you at first, take it slowly! Your feet don’t even have to leave the trampoline for you to experience quite an amazing benefit. Put on some dance music if it helps you create a more enjoyable space for yourself. And while you are bouncing — don’t forget to bring out your inner child.  Remember the first time you bounced on a trampoline as a child — or the first time you jumped rope?

Weight Loss Inspiration: “I am beautiful inside and outside!”

So often when we are not at the weight we desire to be at we get down on our appearance — bemoaning the fact that we no longer fit into a favorite dress or pair of pants.  Remember today to look at your weight-loss journey as a path to better health. Think of all of the beautiful qualities about yourself and focus on what you love. Make a list of these qualities or write a loving letter to yourself — and keep your list or letter in a special place so you will have it to read at times when you are feeling down.  Are you a good friend and relative to some wonderful people? Do you have sparkling eyes? Did anyone ever tell you you should be a hand model? Do you enjoy laughter and making other people laugh? Are you generous with your time and talents? Focus on your positive physical, emotional and spiritual qualities today and celebrate the beautiful person you are inside and out!
